Feds Create Window for Aircraft to Leave MVY Ahead of "Danny"

Tropical Storm Danny is threatening the New England Region, and given the temporary flight restriction in place for President Obama’s vacation on Martha’s Vineyard, federal authorities (TSA, FAA, US Secret Service) have developed an alternative procedure that will allow aircraft operators currently positioned at Martha’s Vineyard Airport (MVY) to reposition their aircraft off the island.

EAA and the International Aerobatics Club are mourning the tragic loss of IAC President Vicki Cruse, who perished in a plane crash while participating at the World Aerobatics Championships in England earlier today. She was 40.

Ultralight Training Concerns Being Addressed

When the sport pilot/light sport aircraft (SP/LSA) regulations were developed, it was envisioned that flight training for people who wanted to fly ultralight or ultralight-like aircraft would be conducted in aircraft certificated in the special light-sport (S-LSA) category.

Rocky Mountain Fly-In Opens at Denver Saturday

Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (formerly Jeffco) will host the Rocky Mountain Regional Fly-In (RMRFI) this weekend, August 22-23, and pilots who arrive early enough might qualify for what organizers are calling the “2009 Special Pilot Stimulus Package.”
