TThe June 1 implementation deadline for the controversial TSA Security Directive 1542-08F looms with no firm indication that TSA will adjust its position in response to protests and concerns from EAA and other general aviation groups.

Next week aviation enthusiasts return to Lakeland, Florida, for the 35th annual Sun ‘n Fun Fly-In, at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport Tuesday through Sunday, April 21-26. Piper Aircraft Inc. has announced plans to bring its new, single-engine jet, the PA-47 PiperJet, to AirVenture Oshkosh this summer, which the company says will be the first time the aircraft will appear at an air show.

Aero-News Network is reporting that the NTSB is asking the FAA to prohibit further flight of Zodiac CH-601XL until a determination can be made on 4 accidents in the United States and two in Europe involving CH-601XL’s.   The NTSB also cites concerns with the ASTM standards used to certify almost all LSA aircraft.
